self-managed catalog

Gateway Global Travel sells experiences: honeymoons, Caribbean getaways, safaris. Their old website only showed a phone number.

The challenge was turning an agency catalog into something that feels like planning a vacation, not reading a brochure.

The brief

  • A search box by destination, date and number of travelers.
  • Packages with visible pricing, discount and duration.
  • Seasonal deals with a real expiration date.
  • A travel blog and gallery to feed SEO.
  • Testimonials and guarantees to back the booking.

How we chose the design

Full-screen photography: a turquoise beach sells better than any headline. Copy sits on top in white with a light script accent.

Content lives in clean cards on a light background, with navy and turquoise as action colors.

Prices are always visible, discounts highlighted. In travel, hiding the price loses the sale.

The technology behind it

  • Next.js rendering the catalog on the server: every destination is indexable.
  • Tailwind CSS with reusable card, price and deal components.
  • Search with destination, date and traveler filters.
  • An integrated blog with structured data for search engines.
  • A configurable cookie consent banner.

What the agency gains

  • Packages update without touching code.
  • Every destination and blog post adds an entry door from Google.
  • Expiring deals create honest urgency: they really do expire.

Pros and cons of our choices

What we gained

  • Server rendering: the full catalog is visible to search engines.
  • A card system that scales to hundreds of packages.
  • Blog and gallery feed long-term rankings.

What we traded away

  • No online booking engine: final booking closes with an agent.
  • Keeping deals fresh demands editorial discipline from the team.
  • Heavy photography forced aggressive image optimization.

The outcome

A portal that inspires the trip and walks visitors to contact, with a living catalog the agency manages daily.
